Harlaw Reservoir lies at the foot of the Pentland Hills on Malleny Estate. This is a very scenic reservoir that has easy access from Edinburgh being only one mile south of Balerno. Potential fishing spots surround the reservoir and although popular, it's always possible to find tranquility here.

The fishing rights are currently let to Malleny Angling Ltd. There is over a mile of bank fishing on Harlaw Reservoir and over a mile of bank fishing on Threipmuir. Fishing is by fly only, no bait or spinning allowed.

Memberships, Season permits, Day permits and Young Adult permits are available only online from Fish Harlaw website, but are not available at the Bothy or on-site Bailiffs. Under 17 can fish for free but have to be accompanied by a paying adult. The reservoir is regularly stocked with hard fighting Rainbow trout throughout the season.
