GENERAL FAQS

The Venue

What is the maximum capacity of the venue? 

100 seated or 120 reception.  

How many guests can you accommodate overnight?

We have 14 double bedrooms over five luxury properties, sleeping 28 guests in total.  

Are you accessible via public transport?

No, however, Gorebridge Train Station is just 7 minutes away. We can also recommend local taxi companies for runs to Edinburgh city centre.  

Is it possible to hire Rosebery Steading just for the event space only?

Yes, if we have the dates available, we can offer a day hire only.

Do you include tables and chairs?

Yes, we have Bespoke rustic trestle tables and cross-back chairs available for you to use.  

Do you have a PA system for background music/speeches?

We have an integrated Kef audio system for playing music and two wireless microphones for speeches. 

Do you have parking for our guests?

Yes, we have parking for up to 50 cars and two coaches.  

Can we use our own suppliers?

Yes (besides catering), we also have a recommended suppliers list that we can send to you if needed.   

What time will our evening reception need to finish?

Midnight.

Can we have a fire pit?

Yes, managed by the Rosebery Team, we will ensure that the courtyard is a cosy space on those colder Scottish evenings.  

Catering and Bar

Can we use external caterers or supply food ourselves?

We have a catering panel which consists of four of Scotland’s finest wedding caterers: Wild Thyme, Stocks Events, The Edinburgh Catering Company, and Platter & Pop to cater for your wedding day. You may wish to bring external catering or provide your own food for a pre-wedding celebration the night before.  

Do you have an in-house bar, or can we provide our own drinks?

Your bar will be run by one of our catering teams. They all offer flexible bar options and competitively priced drinks packages, and an option to provide your own table wine & fizz, with a service charge to cover chilling, serving staff, glassware, etc. 

Everything Else

Can we have candles?

Yes, real candles are allowed on tabletops during dinner. All other candle décor must be LED.

Can we bring our own lawn games/activities?

Yes, we have the perfect lawn area for mini golf and garden games! 

What are the local accommodation options?

There are several local hotels and B&Bs that we can recommend, just a short drive from Rosebery Steading. 

Can our guests camp at the venue?

We do not have any camping facilities. However, can recommend some local campsites.   

Is there a church nearby?

We have a chapel within the grounds of Rosebery House available to hire. We also have several local churches within a 20-minute drive of Rosebery Steading. 

Can we have confetti?

Real dried flower petals are permitted and make the best confetti shots!   

Can we let off fireworks?

We have an approved supplier who can provide low-noise fireworks. These are as impressive as a standard firework, just without the loud explosions when they open. You may also opt for a laser light show or a fire dance performance. 
 

Are you dog or pet-friendly?

We have two dog-friendly cottages for overnight guests, and dogs are welcome to come along for photographs and join any outdoor ceremonies or receptions!
